Hi All --

Just a word of warning to people buying books from ABEBooks or Add-All -- I
just extricated myself from a horrible book deal gone bad using these services.
They really don't really offer much in the way of assistance or guarantees.
In my case, the order was placed through a small New Mexico "bookseller" that
apparently was someone working out of his/her basement, and ordering books
from someone else if the mood was right, though he/she was certainly prompt
about charging my credit card! After months of attempting to find out what
happened to the book I never got, I ended up putting the charge in dispute with
my
credit card company. The very next day, having been notified of this (although
the "bookseller" never responded to my other attempts to contact him/her by
phone or email) I received a notice that the book was going to be shipped.
Voila!
So I notified him/her again TWICE that the charge had been cancelled and NOT
to ship the book.

Long story short -- I found out after this that people are better off
contacting the bookseller directly if they find one listed on one of these
services,
and making sure it's legit. In fact, sometimes the bookseller, if it really IS
a bookseller, will even charge you less than the amount listed on ABE or
Add-All, because those services take a surcharge. If they are there to respond
to
your order, they will presumably be there to send the order out, and stand by
their business. And if something goes wrong, you'll know whom to contact.

Regards,
