I hang "Satin balls" covered with bobbin lace or tatting on the hangers. Lace angels, bells etc. seem too delicate to show on these holders. Those I put on artificial trees of different sizes. There's also the plastic balls, bells, etc. that come apart and you can put lace inside those and hang them from the hangers.

I now have 2 ornament holders, made by DH because he couldn't stand to
watch me struggle with the wire-bending tool (I was getting it,
slowly...). Coat hanger wire is more than a bit 'hard' but it was
available; in strong hands, the wire makes a serviceable C-shaped
holder with a built-in base. The fun for the maker is in getting the
centre of gravity right, and the swirl or configuration of the base
just so.

Then, there is coat hanger wire, and there is coat hanger wire. The
one made from a burnished-looking (sort of bronze, or yucky
brown/green) wire looks quite nice and bent well. The other, made from
a white-paint coated wire, seemed distempered in comparison. Both are
in use - on one hangs a pocket watch. On the other, a dollar store
'crystal' - I did try hanging some laces, but in appearance they were
overpowered by the heavy wire.

Interesting experiment.
