It is absolutely essential to parade our few young lacemakers before the

Your use of the word "parade", is fascinating, especially when coupled with "few"...

So, we suck them in, and expose them - on false pretenses - and then what??? They'll still have to face reality the moment they come to their first lace meeting and meet others - most of whom are likely to be in their mothers' and grandmothers' age group. Weronika - just 22 - is still hanging on, but she's more mature than any 22yr old I've ever met in US (and that includes my own son). An average softie is likely to run - screaming - away from such a meeting... Sure, it would be nice to show well-muscled youngsters of both sexes (but not _children_ who have as much "sex appeal" as dowagers), busy at their shuttles, needles, pillows... But it would be a _fake_ picture of what's happening...

Not to bring politics into the equation again, but we've all had too much - expensive - "action" based on short-term lies recently, and we don't need another instance of it...

Jeri, I admire your knowledge and your generosity in sharing it. But, once in a while, your ideas (and ideals) are no more practical than those of Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin... :)
