Sally Barry has been working out the Luton patterns. She was
publishing them in the New England Lace Guild Newsletter (don't know if
she still is). She also has put together three books of them, each
containing about 50 patterns. The third just came out recently, so I
believe this is what you're referring to.

Her books are sold by Holly van Sciver and Lacy Susan in the US,
probably others as well. She also sells them herself from a website,
but I don't seem to have the URL. I'm sure others can supply that, or
you can probably get the URL from the Lace Fairy site.

Sally's books are very nice, and a bargain (I think USD 30 each, less
than a dollar a pattern). Each lace is photographed or photocopied,
with pricking and clear (black and white) thread diagram. They range
from narrow to wide edgings, simple to complex. It's comb-bound so it
lays flat (which I like).

There's another book, I think it's called "100 Traditional Lace
Patterns" and is/was available in paperback. It's by Cook and/or Stott
(sorry to both, I get their names confused on book titles, they've
published so many together and apart). Many, if not all, of these are
from the Luton patterns. The thread diagrams in this book are color-
coded. Again, they range from simple/narrow to very complex.

usual disclaimers,
