I agree with you, Faye. Giving out the pattern is a violation of copyright and therefore illegal. It is also denying the school its income.
Having to write or call a foreign country is very inconvenient, but that's not really an excuse to be a pirate. In my opinion, the best answer would be to convince some of the lace suppliers to buy the patterns from the school and make them available to their customers. That would make the patterns more expensive, because the suppliers would have to add their price markup, but it would be the legal and moral way to get the patterns to more people. Robin P.
