in response to Sheila in Sawbridgeworth:
When the book came out in 1983 there were a number of errors, proof
reading, if you would like the complete list of changes as given to us
by Geraldine at a Lace Weekend that year I'll do so.
Jean and David Leader started, a while ago, a webpage of errata to
books of living authors. It was supposed to collect just such
proofreading slip-ups. The project got forgotten over time (part of the
reason being that errors needed to be found first, then the author's
permission given for such corrections) but it seems to me that the
Visual Intro to Bucks Point, with the list of oopsies provided by the
author herself would be a heaven-sent addition.
Not during the Christmas season, and not immediately after (if I
remember a-right, the Leaders take a break from web-duties after
they've delivered the Advent Calendar -- for which many thanks), but...
Sometime in spring, perhaps we should launch the errata page on the
Lacenotes? Even if it's incomplete, it would be better than nothing.
And, besides, it's never likely to be complete... :)
Yours, already missing my guests from Oz (have had a call confirming
safe arrival back in Charlottesville. Always a worry, and doubly so,
when people have to drive on what's the "wrong side of the road" for
them) Clay and Betty Ann reported on the Saturday "doings", so I won't.
But we spent yesterday morning and afternoon checking out some of the
historic Lexington. In the evening, the guys watched TV, and Yvonne and
I yammered about lace, with me pulling out piles of books for her to
look at between the dings of the timer which announced different stages
in dinner prep; I think the US visit has got her all fired up for the
return to her pillow :)
But, because we started off a bit late yesterday (newspaper had to be
read <g>), we didn't manage to see all that's worth seeing, so, today
we plugged the holes. And, at VMI, Yvonne and Allan were amused to see
the VMI mascot: Joey the kangaroo... :) I'd forgotten, and didn't warn
them that they were likely to "meet" another "expatriate" (and an
out-sized one, at that <g>)
