After some receiving some useless but expensive books for my birthday, I've become a big fan of wish lists. DH wants whatever he gets for me to be a surprise, so if I have enough choices selected, then he figures I won't be able to guess what he got me. Probably the lace supply places don't have wish list features, but Nordic Needle and Amazon do. This year I actually got some things I liked and he felt that it was a proper 'surprise' present. <g>
You select a few things that you want and send your DH the link. Amazon lets you add comments like "Don't get me more than one book by this author." He can click on anything in your wish list and buy it for you. Also, the mailing addresses are protected, so if you ever want to get something for someone whom you only know online, it's a safe way to do so, for both parties.
