The children's version of Antiques Roadshow had some lovely lace bobbins on on Wednesday this week. Unfortunately, the bone ones were described as being made of ivory by the expert on the show! I did email and point this out, including a couple of references, and have had a reply that they will share the information with the expert concerned.
Having just looked though, they are still described as made of ivory on the website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/antiques/antiquesroadshow/priceguide/objects/289.shtml I hadn't realised they were on there when I sent my first email. I am however looking forward to the next series (probably February) when there should be some accurate lace information on the programme. If I remember rightly from my visit to the Honiton Lace Museum in Sept, Pat Perryman will be on Antiques Roadshow filmed somewhere not too far from Honiton, with items from the Honiton Lace Museum collection.
