I amazed myself when I could put my hand right on this bit of information
(some digging was required!)

CLEANING BRASS PINS:

In a heat-proof mug or bowl put 1 TBSP vinegar, 1 TBSP liquid detergent and
about 3/4 cup of boiling water.  Put the pins in the mixture and let sit
for about 10 minutes.  Rinse and drain. Let dry in a warm place.  

Your pins will sparkle like new!
