downloaded, and there other site that offer these old books for the asking
If you need more info on these, let me know and give me some time and I know
iIhave them posted...somewhere. mMy computer is like my kitvhen...you have to
look in every cupboard to find what you want.;-))))))

My mats could well be a product of that era.
I could have googled first without asking at arachne-lace, but it is
more fun to ask first <vbg>
I did take your advice to search, found this description of Irish crochet:
"Motifs are crocheted separately and then later added to a mesh
background which can be very fine" and I do have a length of edging
that was made in this way. The trefoils and other elements look
sculptured.
The two doilies with raised rosettes, and the palm leaf shapes, are
made continuously.
