Beautiful.
This reminds me of a message to Arachne some time ago, about a
lacemaker with all her bobbins made of glass. Wouldn't that be a
delicate sound! (an aside: I have some honitons made of glass and they
are a joy to use, but I only use them when I can have the pillow on a
large flat surface, not that the bobbins would break, but they might
spear my foot in the falling).

I would think in a group of people who make a lot of laces by the
mile, after awhile you would have a good idea from the sound the
bobbins make as the pattern is repeated which  they might be working
on.
