Mary, It looks like the real thing to me as well. I have an old bobbin winder like yours...not made with as fancy workmanship, but the same style...box with drawer, big wheel that would be connected to the small wheel by a cord, the arm that swings off the box would hold the "gizmo" that Clive talked about, and the 4 arms of the gizmo would have several holes in them so that they could be adjusted for the size of the thread hank. The "stobs" would fit into the holes for the hank and it looks like you have three matching stobs and one that looks (from what I can see in the photo) like it is probably a stob made from a broken bobbin. I have three matching stobs with mine too, and one that was made to "do the job". I imagine they could easily be lost when the winder was being used a lot!

Clive! I envy your reproduction winder from Mr. Hornsby... I met him at a lace day after he had stopped making bobbins, etc. He still had a booming supply business, and we used to go to his house frequently to "shop" and visit. A winder by him would definitely have been worth the year's wait!!
