I've been doing that for 5-10 years now, and I love it. I use a Xyron
cold-laminating machine. Unlike Bev's experience with the copy shop,
this laminate glues to the paper so I cut pieces apart without
problem. It's not as stiff/hard as pricking card or paper over manila
file folders, but plenty strong enough for my use and re-use. For
coarser laces (Russian, torchon), I don't always pre-prick, unless I'm
using brass or insect pins (both of which bend very easily). For finer
laces like Bucks, I do always pre-prick.
