For those who have not heard of s'Gravensmoer, don't feel bad. It is a lovely lace which, as Brenda said, is most like Torchon. It was made is a particular part of Holland, and used for their caps. The every-day cap was rather simple, but the "Sunday Best" was large and showy! It has been relatively recent that the lacemakers in Holland began to make an effort to preserve the examples that are left, to document the many patterns (families had their own pattern which was handed down, and their patterns often told the story of their family's source of survival, or wealth, as the case might be). So it is only now being introduced to lacemakers in other parts of the world.
The Dutch Guild published a beautiful book several years ago which really got things going, but it's out of print already! : ( Gotta run!! I'm going to a workshop with Christine Springett!
