Hi Sue and everyone
The short answer is you work it diagonally and follow the diagram :))
ok, that was cheeky -
here's a f'r'instance - you have a little diamond of 3 pairs coming in
from each side.
The top two pairs hs pin hs, as we are used to doing in Torchon; with
the next left two pr you make a hs but don't close the pin, and with
the 3rd left the same, go back to the next right after the topmost
pin, make a hs, pin, and nip down to the 4th left outgoing pairs and
hs them, place a pin, return to the 3rd right pairs for a hs pin, then
the 4th right. Finally the two last pairs end the diamond with hs pin
hs. You don't close the h-s for the other pairs but the pins end up
being closed as you work.

well you did ask :))

It is more or less for each two pair coming in from one sidet a pair
is worked in from the other until all pairs are used and they leave in
reverse order of entry.
Or, more simply, a new pair is worked from right to left each row,
rather than the weaver working back and forth as we do with Torchon.
The 's Gravenmoer half-stitch is a.k.a. diagonal half-stitch which can
be worked several ways - as above, or as true diagonal by working each
pair in one direction only resulting in the threads being at a 45
degree angle (I am using the LOKK book as a reference).
