I too have been doing research for the 1830s. I am a docent at Historic
Ferry Plantation House, built in 1830. My best suggestion is to look at
Godey's Lady's Book. That is the source I have been using. The magazine
was started in 1830. If it is in Godey's it was done! There are a number
of online sources for the book at various university web sites.
