Because I did carpentry in the past I have a suggestion for pushing pins down
in the
pillow. Use a large 9 Penny finishing nail which has a indentation in the top.
 My 9
penny nails are 9 cm in length (or 3 1/2 inches). I have these left from
framing a
door.

For removing pins, in a pinch, use a retractable ball point pen writing end.
Remove
ink refill (to prevent inadvertently inking your needlework). Saves my
finger-nails.

My questions:
1. Those snake bookmarks: Why do my snakes not remain flat when they are
removed from the pillow?

2. When my cousin came to visit me from The Netherlands she gave me a pattern
of a maple leaf. It has plaits (?braids) as veins in the picture accompanying
the
pricking. The pricking and diagram do not come with any instructions. The
design
is basically tape lace and these veins show a braid. Occasionally the braids
intersect but what happens when they don't intersect. The braid pulls toward
the
outside tape and things become distorted. My feeling is that the veins give
shape to
the leaves. I hoped to finish the project before I leave for The Netherlands
in two
weeks but I am stumped. Even if it is not completed, I will remove it from the
pillow
and take it with me and receive help in two weeks.

Thank-you to all of you who keep this digest stimulating. I don't write in
very often
but I do plug away at a little at a time between other responsibilities.

As ever Johanna Hildebrand
