No, it's a fairly typical example of mignonette tatting. It's sturdier than it 
looks. And boring as all get-out to work because you have to measure the thread 
length between rings so carefully. It's "Leave 1/4 of thread, tat 2, join, tat 
2, close ring," ad nauseam....
