My question is: Does anyone know of a better pattern than the Snake for a quickie sampler project?
I heard of someone (who's granddoughter asked for bobbin lace lessons in her class as a birthday present) who let the children make dreamcathers with a single plait. To be decorated with feathers and ...? But in my humble opinion that reduces the technique to just plaiting, never having to put a pair aside and get another pair.
