I'll be curious to see if the fake suede (known as "ultrasuede" in the US) will substitute for the leather called for by the teacher. The old French (Cluny) pillows were very small, but had a very hard surface of leather, or in some cases, stiff vinyl. This allowed the bobbins to scoot swiftly. The ultrasuede, which, like Jean, I use constantly and love, tends to slow the bobbins down. I made the mistake of dressing a pillow with it once for a Bucks Point workshop, and the teacher had me replace it with a cotton cloth the next day. So I'll be curious which way this works out in Montreal!! Please keep us posted!

I also figured it had to be the workcloth (my list didn't say "leather pad"; it just said "leather"), especially since I'd seen leather used that way before. I don't have a leather workcloth, but I do use the fake suede constantly and love it It would be my pleasure to bring such workcloths for all of you; I'm so excited about seeing you all, I would (almost <g>) give you the moon if I could :) They'd be, approximately, 18x18" square, and your colour choices would be either cream or very dark burgundy -- that's all I have to spare.

I'd love a burgundy one too. Thanks.
