Hi Mary,

I've used all kinds and love the seagrass that I got from Holly. It is 24 inches and quite heavy but ideal for big projects. I also have some straw pillows and like them as well. They are smaller but easy to use. Given my druthers, I'd choose seagrass, I think, because I love the sea, but then wouldn't turn my hand for the difference in use. I have a huge, tightly packed straw bolster with a horse (about 200 years old) that I bought when we lived in England. It is very difficult to stick pins in and the parchment pattern that was on it has only a few pin holes. No wonder!

The foam cookie pillows are fine for small motifs and bookmarks. Then when one is doing yardage or handkerchief edgings (which are easy to do on the 24 inch) the block pillow can't be beat. They are made of some kind of ethafoam and certainly won't wear out "on my watch.."
