One of our group was asked to help some of the Final Year Students of The Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts who are putting on a play called 'Ask for the Moon@ by Shirley Gee (which explores the professional lives of six women and one man who work in the rag trade. Four of them are workers in a contemporary East London garment factory -a sweatshop- and the other three are lacemakers, working in apalling conditions, in a tiny Devon cottage in the 1840's.

Assistance included help in creating the scene, training in basic lacemaking, provision of props and general advice.

The play has its first night last night (Friday 7th July and will run until Saturday 15th July 2006
at the
NEW PLAYERS THEATRE, The Arches, Villiers Street, London, WC2N 6NL
           (Close to Charring Cross Station)

Evenings at 7.30 plus Saturday Matinees at 3.00 pm (no performances on Sunday)

If you are able to come along and see the play, Please do support this group of very enthusiasic young people who are now interested in learning even more about our craft.

The future of this wonderful craft is ultimately in the hands of the young people we are able
to interest in Lacemaking.
