I visited the Fan Museum Greenwich several years ago when the Special
Exhibition was the fan collection from the Hermitage or Winter Palace of the
Russian Royal Family. I was in there for hours looking at those fans, many
of them had been presented to Tsar Nicholas's mother on her royal visits to
different countries, she was, apparently, a collector of fans so the leaflet
at the museum said.
Well worth a visit even if there is no special exhibition on at the time,
the permanent exhibition is worth seeing. I noticed that from August to
November there is to be an exhibition of Chinoiserie, fans with an oriental
air about them. Hmm I am planning a trip to England this coming autumn so
maybe I pay another visit to Greenwich.
I also enjoyed browsing the many antiques shops and the indoor antique
market that was very close to the fan museum.
