About the Liberty Lacers!!!!
What a wonderful group of ladies and outstanding lacers !!!. I have had the
pleasure of being a member of the "Liberty Lacers" and will not take up your
time to tell you of all the outstanding teachers in that group,(maybe someone
else will) and of the many, many, world wide teachers they have entertained in
their group but, if you will go to your IOLI Bulletin Spring issue 2004 you can
be re-acquainted to Betty MacDonald's famous "Blue Crab". This little fellow
has been a world traveler from the United States to all of Europe ( including
OIDFA ) and from there who knows. Tess Parrish has been, and may still be a
member of this guild at the same time I was. I traveled from Wilmington, DE to
be a part of these fabulous ladies . There is not enough time nor space to
begin to tell you of the "Liberty Lacers".

The Liberty Lacers are in the Philadelphia area, and are a wonderful
group of lacemakers! They regularly offer excellent workshops and have
great teachers (including their own Betty MacDonald!). I've been to
several of their workshops, and to be honest, I don't remember the
pearls, but Miss Etta J has the hats sewn up!! She has made a number of
them, embellished with her own lace, and recently had a "famous lace
designer"* draw up a pattern for a pillbox in lace - "a la Jackie O".
This will be a wonderful sight to see! (*name not revealed to protect
the innocent!) I don't know many groups who enjoy each others' company
as much - and who have as many excellent lacemakers! They're one of my
favorite groups.
