I was shocked by the news of Gunvor's death. I'll miss her passionate love of lace and willingness to share her knowledge.
I've been one of her students for several years and finished the last of her series of Torchon learning pieces in the Spring. This summer I attended her four day Tonder workshop and was looking forward to doing more of it during the next class sequence. Although Gunvor missed the opening class of our Fall session last week because of a medical procedure, she sent Jackie Gaines in her place with the familiar suitcase of supplies, the tea kettle and a bakery treat. The coffee was missing but since Gunvor usually drank most of it, we managed the break without it, fully expecting her to bring it to class tonight. Class tonight????? Yes, though I doubt any of us will do much lace done this evening. This came in the email sent this morning to the members of the Metropolitan Chapter - IOL: "As Gunvor would have wanted, classes will continue as scheduled."
