Hi everyone
Sooner than I thought, I now have an Ikea laptop table, the one listed
as 'Dave' in their catalogue.
Mine was a floor model (or demo, or store sample - whichever) and we
got a percentage off the retail price therefore. I had to take it as
is, fully assembled, and without tools to take it apart, the person
who bought it for me carried it from A to B then we had to winkle it
into the trunk of the car. For those wondering, disassembly for
transporting probably isn't a design feature of this little table. I
think it can be deconstructed if one is handy with tools. It is
probably shipped flat in a box, if ordered on-line, so some assembly
is required if bought new.

At this time I have it set at its lowest height of 20 inches, and
flat. I can work down on it while seated on the living room sofa in
good light.
I like the stand, which is a single column on a Y-shaped base. Two
arms of the Y are longer than the third, for stability.
The table surface is a pleasant neutral light colour and is non-skid.
If the bottom of a cookie pillow isn't too smooth, the pillow should
stay in place when the table is tilted. The tilt mechanism itself is
well engineered, and is easy to work, as a lever. The 'handle' at the
back is also for keeping computer cords out of the way - though how
about a slot for the finished lace to fall through :)

My TableMate wins for its ease in folding down. It loses a point for
being clumsy to carry unless the components are contained in some way,
and it doesn't go as low as the laptop table. My Por-Table, which is a
T/mate knockoff doesn't even go as low as the Table Mate and it has a
slight warp in the top. Both are fine to take to a lace meeting where
standard chairs are provided. I do like the Ikea table, for home use.

One can't have too many lace tables !???
