The side ridges... I seem to get them, no matter what method I use, simply by "packing" as many passes as possible; it's not necessary to have more than one thread each side. As Alice said: shorten the sides for better control (though it's been less necessary once I started using Tess's *previous* method <g>). Tension the weaver slightly upwards (to push the previous rounds tighter together), the side passives out, and the tick-tock straight down (or not at all).
