Gentle Spiders,

Sorry for cross-posting, but I want to call my alarm for help off as soon as possible :) Within seconds of posting on chat, I got this response from [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

do you have a little flag up on the right-hand side of the top bar? Mine is the Stars and Stripes indicating that I am using a US keyboard configuration (rather than the Canadian version). If it is anything else, try clicking on it and seeing what options it gives you.

Ah... Indeed... :) What seems to have happened, is that one of the keyboard options I have below that top bar has inserted itself instead of the US flag. Perversely -- but isn't that how things *always* happen? -- it's the flag that I didn't mean to have there at all; the Czech one :) It seems obstinate in other ways as well; sometimes, I'll have the US flag "blued" in the menu below the top bar, but it's still the Czech flag which will appear in the top bar. And, sometimes, I'll switch to the US flag and it'll flip itself back to the Czech one.

A nuisance, but, at least, I know what to look for... :) [EMAIL PROTECTED]; I don't think I know who you are (can't remember that username/address) but you have my heartflt thanks all the same!

If you don't have a flag then you may need to go to System Preferences and find the setting for your keyboard (could be under International). Good luck :-)

I need to go to Systems Preferences anyway, hunt those things up and remove that Czech flag. <g>
