When I decided to enter the card exchange I didn't know where to begin but finally did what I did, but I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the pictures of the lovely cards. A would like to add my voice to the thanks for all the free patterns but mostly all the invaluable help and advice which wings its way around the world. So many different ideas and truly appreciated.

Some months ago I asked about italian lace styles and realised what I was trying to do was almost impossible. I went around it another way in the end, I chose a very elegant pattern from a fairly old book and have just completed the 4th strip so will make the napkins up in the new year. I am hoping they will compliment the table and not clash or jar in anyway. One of the stitches was one I never learned at the lessons but found in a new book to me last year (Building Torchon Lace Patterns by bridget cook) the stitch was triangular ground which looks good in the pattern. I had done it once in the sampler but had to relearn for this project, after 4 napkin strips I am now managing pretty well with it. Time to check out some of the other brilliant grounds in that sampler.

Anyway I wanted to say I had made the lace for them and thank all those who helped with their advice and directions of where and what lace might work. Have a wonderful christmas everyone wherever you are, I am feeling very smug as I spent last night finishing off some ufo's that have been sitting around since the summer and all but one are now in use with the decorations and that one needs spraying and drying before it joins them.
