A couple of years ago, one of our guild members found (or inherited?) a
set of nice chairs which needed new bottoms. The seats had originally
been rush, I believe, but had long since been outlived by the chair
frames. So she bought a sturdy cord, and a few dozen alarmingly large
nails which were her bobbins. She made new chair seats for each of
these chairs, and they are delightful!! She worked from back to front,
and so the cord is simply tied off at the front, creating a fringe on
each chair. As I recall, each is different, as she played with ideas as
they came along!
