The problem with this system is the difficulty in retrieving by lace type. If you want to find a book in your library that has BL, you now have to retrieve all books that have "BL" in the category field *and* all books that have both "mixed" in the category field and "BL-plus- anything-else" in the miscellaneous field. It takes a relatively sophisticated database program to specify this many conditions, or to specify "field includes XXX as part of its contents". And it takes more research and learning on the part of the user to be able to do it, even if the software is capable. This is where a series of check-boxes is useful, so that you don't need to be able to specify complex conditions for retrieval. Robin P.
