Jean, someone else out here made the same comment to me recently - and then she sent me her file. I experimented with it, and have also had a play with various widths and printing too. I discovered that while, superficially, the printed lines looked as if they hadn't changed width, in fact they had.
My friend had changed her line width from the default setting of "1" to "2" - which is an enormous different when viewed on the screen. However, it is not such a big when printed....you'd really need to have two lines of different widths side by side to see a difference. The other factor which affects the width of printed lines is that like the dots, lines are also "scaled" according to the size of the grid you choose for printing. I've just drawn one line of each width (1 - 10) and printed the page out twice - the first at 2mm Straight, and the second at 1/8" straight. All the line width are thicker and heavier on the 1/8" printout than they are on the 2mm one. So I'd suggest, to make a noticeable difference, you might need to change the lines by at least a couple of sizes....for instance, try 3 or 4 instead of 2, particularly if you're printing out at a finer grid.
