Bev in Sooke BC where there aren't any fireworks on New Year's Eve (but
maybe they might have them in some communities on Vancouver Island, west
coast of Canada - in 2000 the little community across the strait in the US
had a beautiful display, which we were able to watch with binoculars - very
tiny visually at some miles distant though)
