I'm glad to see Tamara's response to Micki about not mangling silk lace because
the silk thread is weakest when wet. I've got about three yards of my Ipswich
edging that I was thinking about mangling when I take it off the pillow. I
guess I won't do that now.

Thank heavens for the strength of silk thread! I bumped into my lace table
and my bolster pillow went bounding off onto the floor last week. Of course
the bobbins were not secured because I was currently working on it. No broken
bobbins, and no broken threads! But a couple of bobbins were knotted so
tightly against the pins that it was very scary to contemplate fixing it. I
set it aside until the weekend, moved my chair to the large front window and
with the glare of the sunshine off our newly fallen snow I gradually untangled
all the threads without any tragedy. My shoulders were very tense once I
finished, but it only took an hour or so. Now I'm wishing I had taken a photo
of the mess, but at the time I just wanted it to go away.
