Greetings,

I've been doing some family history research recently. My paternal 4 greats grandfather (one Simon Cowcher) was a tailor in London - from the early Census returns it would appear that 2 of his daughters were 'cotton plaiters' - wonder what that actually invloved - I can only find references to straw plaiters on Google. If any one out there has any info on cotton plaiting .....

My 5 great's grandfather was William Cowcher and I have found that there was a pinmaker's called Cowcher and Finch (1794) in the same area of London the Cowchers were living in in 1841 so maybe his father was a pin maker.

All this info gave me quite a buzz - they say what goes around comes around - here am I plaiting threads and using pins.
