I have to agree. If you can buy rug padding (the fiberous kind, not the squished bits of foam), it's usually pretty cheap. Not easy to cut up, but worth it. You can cut stips and roll them around a dowel. A single layer of wool blanket makes a very good roller or mini-bolster. If your class is multi-session, the first session can be for everyone to make their own from supplies they buy for you. That'd cut down on the work you have to do to prepare for class.
For bobbins, there are some pretty cheap ones--plastic or very basic wood midlands that they can spangle themselves. SOme people have used nails for bobbins, but the wood or plastic are definitely superior. Robin P.
