You're not really wrong. There is a strong similarity
of one small roller pillow to another. The crucial
bit of this story is that the pillow and bag bought
from this dealer were measured within an inch of their
lives, and the copy was made exactly the same.
Then...she sold them as her own work without giving
credit to the designer.

If would have been different if she had permission to
duplicate the pillow, and gave the designer a
commission on each pillow sold.

Most people, when they make a pillow, make it to their
own specifications. It might be similar to one they
have seen/used but they usually change something to
make it more convenient for their own use. It might
be bigger, smaller, thicker, larger roller, etc etc
etc...

This is a bit like copying a lace pattern and then
selling the copies as your own work. We have
discussed this many times on the List.

I am applying the same principle to this pillow. The
designer, who worked to get the optimum use out of the
minimum space and make it easy to carry, deserves
his/her credit. Pillows may not come under the
copyright laws, and I don't know anything about patent
law, but the same general principles should apply.

This is one person's opinion, only. I'd rather error
on the side of caution.

And I'm hoping this supplier will be at OIDFA next
year so I can see her/his other products in person.
It's always fun to get a new pillow, even if I don't
really need another one. <G>
