Hi Trish, She is not just a spanish lacemaker, she is a Catalan one. The strip of Red and Yellow ribbon she is wearing, the stripes are in the Catalan flag. Her costume is the regional one, from the net holding her hair down to the espadrilles tied on her feet, all is typical Catalan regional costume. Add to the that the fact that she was also made in Barcelona, the capital of Catalunya.
At lace days here there are often young girls dressed in their Regional dress and this that the doll is wearing is typically Catalan. Catalunya is in the North East Corner of Spain and the language is Catalan, which is also spoken just over the border in the Catalan corner of South Eastern France, around Perpingan The Catalan Regional lace day that is being held here in Lloret De Mar, on the Costa Brava on the 29th April. I expect we shall see the regional dress, the Giants may pay a visit and possibly the Castellers could turn up to show their skills at building human towers, I don't know what is planned for the day. At the end of the day there will probably be dancing of the regional dance Las Sardanas to Catalan music in the town hall square. Regards Jenny DeAngelis. Catalunya Spain. Looks like a wonderful addition to some lacemakers colletion. >> - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
