Best guess - would depend on the appearance of the 'make 1' in relation to the pattern in one respect, however if the pattern has a lot of those, perhaps use the method that is most efficient for the knitting. A YO isn't precisely the same as a make 1 - in the first you are making an intentional hole. If you have to make a new stitch, a YO will leave a different and more gaping hole than if you choose one of the other methods you mention.
