This thread reminds me of my childhood when the Scottish fishing boats came to Gt Yarmouth to fish for "the silver darlings" (herrings) the women folk came to gut the fish on the quayside and you could not see their hands moving they were so fast the fish just flew into the barrels, they would knit everywhere and I have seen them on the bus going to work knitting none stop I am sorry to say that I never took much notice of what they where knitting I just remember thinking that they knitted as fast as they gutted herring.
