I'm not sure that Copydex is PVA - none of the other PVA glues smell,
as Jean says Copydex smells awful.
There are lots of brands on the market - some intended for children's
use, some for woodwork (Evo-Stick is a well known brand), some for
general craft use. I have a bottle of Anita's tacky glue for sticking
paper and card and today bought a big bottle of Bostik PVA for sticking
an acrylic painting on paper to a mountboard prior to getting it
framed.

I don't use Copydex any more - it goes stringy and rubbery, and smells
awful. The brand PVA I am currently using is 'Weycraft Craft Medium
P.V.A. adhesive", but I've used other brands of craft PVA. Weycraft
(and other brands of craft PVA) is fairly liquid PVA which comes in a
bottle with a nozzle and is just as good for wood as it is for many
other crafts.
If I want flexibility and the ability to wash it out (as when needing
flexible clear-drying adhesive for fabrics), I use "tacky" glue -
current brands "Mighty Tacky" and "Hi-Tack.
