Forgot to add that in the UK you can have a 'reproduction' which could be a
modern reproduction of an antique or one made over 100 years ago as a copy
of something earlier. If it is a reproduction it has to be described as
such. You could also have "antique style" or "vintage style" which refers to
something modern made in the same style as something old. So you could have
a "modern reproduction vintage style table" but not a "vintage modern
reproduction table".
Gets complicated but if you get it wrong you break the Sales of Goods Act
for bothe private and trade sales, and if you are in business, you could
also break the Trades Description Act at the same time. Both of these
offences can be prosecuted by the Trading Standards Office.
So if you sell internationally on ebay for example, you need to be careful
to fit in with whatever that country accepts for a description.
