That seems a bit ludicrous...in my opinion, it would take longer to turn the threads yellow, if it would, than it would to finish the piece of lace, unless you're like me and have about 5 pillows going at a time. My expression, "Wouldn't turn yellow on my watch!"
However, I find that the sun dries the thread, especially cotton, and it breaks easier. If I'm demonstrating, I never sit in the sun, and I make that known to the people who ask me to demonstrate. Anyone that has received lacemaking instructions from me knows how to add moisture to their threads.
