Hi All,
We have had my parents staying with us for a few days,a nd they wandered off
to one of their favourite places on Sunday afternoon - they went to Altonm
Water, a reservoir just outside Ipswich, in Suffolk, and said they had never
seen so many tents being erected, rows of toilets, and all sorts of other
marquees. They said it was to do with a Scouting event of some
description, so I wonder if this is it - or whether the event at Alton Water
is a sort of 'over-spill' to the main event? We are about a two-hour
drive from London, but thankfully, we are supposedly in one of the driest
areas of GB - although we have had far more than our share of rainfall this
summer, we have not been flooded, and the reservoir is picturesque - and
large - in the extreme. So - I do hope all the scouting fraternity will
enjoy themselves, and thank God tthat we are relatively unscathed with the
awful flooding.

Think about Scouting authorities (in London area somewhere) who have a
Centenary World Jamboree about to start (28th July) and they have 500,000
people coming!!
