I think thread does quite often deteriorate over time, but I also think we
can sometimes be unlucky with a 'duff' reel! I started to make a set of
chalice covers, and was a bit unsure of the lilacy sort of colour of the
thread, as I think dyeing thread sometimes has a bad effect, but it wasn't
the lilac Finca which kept on breaking, it was the brand new, white Finca!
I gave up after two corners of the edging, and now wonder what to do with
the chevron shaped piece, with millions of broken threads to sew in...
