I find that confusing - if the illustrations, working diagrams, pricking and notes are included, what's had to be left out? My assumption is that it's the history and techniques bit which is at the front of the first book (which I already have).

I think this will be about the "Ombrée" technique (shading by using an extra runner pair in parts as I understood it from the drawings) which is used in some of the pieces - but there's a drawing with single threads of it which should be sufficient to work those.

The book arrived here on Wednesday - stunningly beautiful patterns, some of which I'll certainly try to make (one of them a nicely shaded round pansy motif).

B.t.w. - I'm still searching for part 1 of Schwarzarbeit, so if anyone wants to get rid of it ... ;-).
