Hello Melinda
If it's a skein of embroidery thread and you want to use it for BL you
can either separate it (which is a bit of a pain if you need to
separate the whole length - I stand on the landing and dangle the skein
over the stairs and re-wind onto 2 pieces of card). Alternatively you
could use the whole lot as a gimp thread.
Most skeins of embroidery cotton are 6 ply and a single strand measures
25 or 25 wraps/cm which suits 1/10 inch or 2.5mm grid torchon patterns
and the ideal thickness for a torchon gimp is the equivalent of 4-6
strands of the main thread.
Enjoy it
Brenda
I have been sent
(which are beautiful) what I would call embroidery thread. Now do I
separate
it into stands or use the whole thickness of it.
