The on-line dictionary spreadsheets are very useful, but I'm still having problems.
I have used Google translate to do whole German to English translations for DH of technical stuff about surveying, I have a large Cassells German/English dictionary, I even have the International Dictionary of lace terms, but I still get defeated trying to get intelligent translations. If any kind hearted German lacemaker who has a copy of Gisela Wirtz's book Kloppeln am laufenden Band would care to contact me personally, I need a translation of pages 43, 44 and 45. Or at least confirmation that the working diagram 11.1 is confusing, in that it looks as if everything is done in CTC with small marks for extra twists, whereas only the edge passives are done in CTC, all the rest is half stitch. And that you need 7 pair in one colour, and 2 pair in the contrast second colour (instead of the quoted 5 pair plus 2 pair - a possible misprint?). What really confused me was that at first I took the marks on the line to be extra twists, and that you only needed 5 pair as stated of the main colour, whereas now I realise they are the not marks on the line, it is a dotted path for the coloured passives! Or is it all so difficult because I'm getting older, and my brain is addled by our summer heat down here!
