>I'm afraid I have the same problem with my two cats...

I didn't let it bother me too much when we had our short-haired Persian
(his Mom was a pedigree chinchilla who got caught red-pawed with the
local Ginger Tom - and Bobbin's sisters were all beautiful longhair blue
Persians) - we named him Bobbin, and any fur in the lace was, of course,
"Bobbin thread"! Now, with Chloe, (black & white) Tigger (black) and
Spitzy, (the latter because of her language, she was a feral kitten who
ended up living with Mom, Dad, and my brother, so we inherited her when
my brother moved into his flat in October after Mom and Dad died, my
eldest sister now has their other cat, Oliver) I will just have to make
black or white lace (though Spitzy has a little ginger on her legs) to
make sure it matches!

On the other hand, with the European law against "the production,
marketing, import and export of dog and cat fur" (quoted from a cat
magazine) which is coming into force at the end of this year, although I
haven't come across anyone spinning cat fur, I wonder about those who
spin and use the fur brushed from their dogs and how it will affect them
- has anyone ever used spun dog-wool for lace? Obviously, the law is to
protect the animals who would otherwise be murdered for their fur. Pity
the law can't be world-wide, rather than just Europe.
