Something that I have found useful to be able to do is when I have a pricking that only gives half of the pattern, say in the case of a large collar or fan pattern where you have to reverse the pattern for the second half of the item.

I go to the photocopy shop and get them to make a copy on normal paper and another copy of photocopiable acetate. You can then turn over the acetate copy and place it over a plain piece of paper and prick that for the second half of the pattern. Or, if you prefer, make a complete pricking in one piece, turn the acetate copy over onto a plain piece of paper and match it up to the first half that was copied onto normal copying paper to make the whole.

The copying shop that I use doesn't always have the photocopiable acetate in stock so I buy a sheet or two of it in the stationers and take that to the photocopier.
